| Purebred dogs are officially classified by the American Kennel Club in six groups, which make it easier to choose the breed of dog you think might best suit you. This simplifies the mater of your choice. Within the group you select, the particular breed is of much less consequence than the individual dog. That isn't to say that learning about the different breeds won't help you pick out your favorite type to pick from. Though we want you to remember that each dog is going to be just like an individual, and all are different!
